Adding New Life to Plain Ribbon!

Hi!!! Today and I'm going to show you how to spruce up some of that plain old ribbon you have! No more hoarding - time to use what you've been keeping!!! :-)

First, grab a stamp that you want to use as your ribbon patten. I chose to use the grid from my SP & Company set Journal This. Choose a color and start stamping on that ribbon!

You don't have to use a pattern stamp - you can use text or really anything that will just look awesome. Even large stamps that will get cut off will work - anything that floats your boat! Imagine having just parts of a flower or snowflake or a sentiment repeating over and over again...

Once you have your image stamped, it's time to start assembling your project! I have a little tip for you - for those large background stamps, if you don't have a clear block that is big enough, you can just use the clear acetate the stamp comes on as your block! One more awesome bonus for clear stamps! I chose to use Large Polka Dots - one of my favorite background stamps.

See? Stamps perfectly with no block needed!

Now it's time to attach the ribbon to the card. I prefer using Scor Tape - it keeps the ribbon nice and flat.

Once the card is adhered, I added Scor Tape to the front of the ribbon, too. Time to bling it up!

I sprinkled glitter onto the Scor Tape and the ribbon looks totally different than it did when I started!

Fun, huh? Then I simply added some twine and buttons! Very Clean and Simple, but it does the job perfectly! And that ribbon just pops! Oh, and that sentiment is also from Journal This!

Yay - today is the day!

It's Release Day for SP & Company. Do you know what that means??? It means that I can finally show you MY VERY OWN stamp set that I designed exclusively for SP & Company! Yes, I've been keeping it quiet that I have my own stamp sets coming out, but I can finally talk about it! I am beyond over the moon excited about this opportunity Samantha has given me and I can't thank her enough! My stamps will be sold under the name of Vintage October Signature Stamps in the SP & Company store!

So... onto the Hop details and then I will share my new stamp set and the two projects I've created with it!

OK, now onto the stamps! My very first set is called Journal This and it is available right now at the SP & Company store. Here is what the entire set looks like:

Ah, it was so great to finally hold the finished stamps in my hands after so much hard work! I decided to make a mini album for my husband with them. I'm giving it to him for Valentine's Day and it's all about us. For once, I'm not including the kids (which was actually hard to do!). I have some old pictures in there from years ago. The quality of the pics aren't the best; they were old scans, but I know he won't care about that. He will appreciate the album AND the fact that I used my stamps! He's awesome like that. :-)

First up, the cover. I used Large Polka Dots and several elements from Journal This. I also used a little bit of paint and baker's twine. Oh, and I used some fab American Crafts ribbon to cover up the icky spine. This was a plain chipboard album until I got my hands on it.

I also used a bunch of Echo Park papers, and some of the papers and elements included in this month's SP & Company Club Kit.

And I've finally broken into my Washi tape. I just couldn't hoard it any longer. :-)

That sweet little "Love You" is from Journal This, too! The lines are from Scallops & Lines. Want to know a secret? When I was creating Journal This, I had that set in my head to coordinate along with it. I thought it would be fun to pair up some of the days of the week or numbers with those lines.

For this page, I dropped our picture into a glassine envelope. I always like to have 'working parts' in my albums. The heart is from Artsy Heartsy and that faux tab is Journal This yet again. That sweet little "Love" is from the I Love Love set.

For these pages, I used a few more fun elements from my set along with Echo Park papers.

That fun circle is from Echo Park's Metropolitan Kit. Love these stickers....

For this spread, I added some twine in and strategically placed some mini heart stickers, along with the mix-n-match sentiment I created with Journal This. Click on the pictures to see the detail. :-)

How much fun are those circular stamps with the numbers on them? I was inspired by typewriter keys when I created them!

I also wanted to show that this set could be used for cardmaking, too, not just scrapbooking! I really love how this grid came out. :-) So many possibilities for this one, huh???

I simply cut out a heart from Artsy Heartsy in Echo Park's Metropolitan paper pack, stamped on it and used a pop dot to adhere. So clean and simple, yet effective. This card will accompany the mini album when I give it to my husband!

Awesome Mix Tape

Hi again!
This is my second post - yeah, I've been a busy little bee!!! I'm participating in Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Challenge. They are giving away freebie images that are just fantastic - check 'em out!!!

When I saw this cassette tape, my mind starting racing with ideas. I swear this one was made for my husband - we always joke about making each other mix tapes, so I knew this was the perfect Valentine's Day card for him!

I mean, who doesn't love awesome mix tapes, right?! I used some totally 80's colors for this one. Trust me, if I had neon colors, I would have used those instead. :-) Anyway, I thought the bright pink and teal would work really well. I colored in the tape and paper pieced the center section. I also added Glossy Accents and some silver from my Viva Pen (for the screws). Then, I created the sentiment and added those splatters using Grunge Me.

This one is really just too much fun. I was giggling the entire time I worked on it. I am really in love with that cassette image. I wonder if my son even knows what a cassette tape is??!!! Hmmmm.....

Hot Stuff!

Hi!
This is my first of two posts today! I've created two cards for the Papertrey Anniversary challenge. Like freebies? Click the above link to get several free, awesome images from Papertrey!!!!

I had such a hard time deciding which images to use, but I finally narrowed it down. :-) This little toaster was too cute to pass up!

I added the "Hot Stuff!" because it just seemed to fit perfectly. The heart stamps are from the PTI Little Bitty Bird set, and so is the little spiral. I simply cut out the toaster and toast, colored them in with Copics and then pieced them together using some Stampin' Up dimensionals. All of the hearts have Glossy Accents on them, too, for that little extra pop!

Multi-Color Embossing

Hi there!
I have a super fun technique to share with you today. I love to heat emboss and there isn't anything cooler than mixing up those colored powders to create a multi-color effect. It's really easy - the only catch is that you have to work fast! Ready to get started? Let's go!!

First, gather your powders that you want to use. I chose to use yellow, orange, mauve and purple. I thought it would be nice to go from light to dark. I also decided to use coffee filters instead of my usual catch tray to speed things up. This way, I could just drop each powder into its own filter and move it along.

Simply stamp your image using VersaMark and start from one end of the project. Sprinkle on the first color, then shake off.

Then, move onto your next color. Make sure you are shaking the excess powder off in the right direction! So, if you are going light to dark, shake the dark off in the other direction so it doesn't mix with the lighter colors.

Try to get this done as fast as you can. No pressure, but if you don't move quick, the ink will dry and nothing will emboss when you use your heat gun!!!

Check out the fun rainbow effect. So many possibilities with this technique. And I just love how it looks using the Large Polka Dots stamp set!

After heat embossing, I wrapped some twine around the card and adhered it with plain old Scotch tape in a spot I knew would be hidden. I think this just keeps it cleaner than letting the tape or glue show up in inside of the card (and this also doubled as the gift receipt holder in the inside of the card for the birthday gift this went with!).

I die cut a few fun little pieces using my Cuttlebug and I used Bold Sentiments I for the main sentiment on the card. I thought it would be a sweet touch to sew down the center of the butterfly and spread out its wings!

I simply adhered everything with pop dots for some dimension.

And I corner rounded two edges using my Zutter corner rounder! I love rounding only one or two edges instead of all four. It just adds something to the card.

I love the simplicity of the card with that heat embossing really showing up as the highlight!

I hope you give this technique a try and I'd love to see what you create - don't forget to post them in the SP Gallery. And you could end up getting picked to be a Friday Fave!

You Rock!!!

Hi!
Today I have a fun card I created for a sweet little 3-year-old boy I know! His birthday was this past weekend and I wanted something fun and funky for him. I turned to my Vintage Varsity set since I knew it would be perfect!

I thought it would be fun to get kind of grungy for him. I used some twine and some Basic Grey stock and only corner rounded two of the four corners to give it a more mod, grungy feel.

I cut out a separate piece of cardstock and duplicated the circle stamp on it, along with the number 3 (he's turning 3) and I gave it a little dimension to make it more fun!

I never use color combos like this one, so I was really out of my element, but I do like the result.

SEW Chic!

Hi!
Today I have a really pretty card for you today. I decided to stamp on canvas, which I love doing (but I tend to hoard my canvas, for shame!) and I wanted to use some Authentique papers that are just soooo chic!

After I stamped on the canvas, I frayed the edges and inked them up. I also sewed a bit on the side - how could I possibly use a stamp set called Sewing Chic and not sew, right???!!!

I also cut out those flowers from card stock - I just thought it needed something up in that corner!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge

Today I have a card that I created for the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #36!

CFC36: Create a Clean And Simple Project that is only black and white.
*no other colors will be allowed-not even a speck*

This one was a challenge for me, for sure! I had a hard time not using any other colors at all, but I loved the result I achieved!

I diecut the circle in the white and then stamped and embossed the image underneath. Then, I stamped on the banners I die cut and added them onto the white base and adhered everything with some pop dots for dimension.

My friend has a birthday this Friday, so I created this with her in mind. We both love to read, so this is really the perfect card for her!!!

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger

Hi and Happy Sunday!
This week I'm happily participating in Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger. This is one of those challenges that I always have on my list, but I'm not always able to join in. I'm thrilled that I was able to get a card done. How great is this trigger picture?

I was so inspired by those flowers and by the colors!

The brown flower tempted me to use Kraft and I had to use vellum to represent the delicate nature of the flowers. Oh, and I just happened to have a Copic that was the perfect peachy-pink to match! I just love the look of heat embossing on vellum.

I stamped those same mums that I used on the vellum in the background using VersaMark. Pretty simple, but I really do like this card. The sentiment is from SP & Company - my go-to sentiment set. Oh, and my FIRST time using Washi tape and I loved it!!! Let me know what you think.

Hi-ya!
I hope your week has been going good!!! Today I have a fab card for you. I'm waaaayyyy into the Valentine's spirit, so I had to make another Valentine's Day card.

I can't stop using the new Large Polka Dots in my projects these days.... And I keep using Artsy Heartsy, too! I also pulled out one of my favorite sets, I Love Love. This was one of the first SP and Company sets I ever got and I get all sentimental when I use it (hee, hee hee)!

I heat embossed the sentiment so I would pop more on the Echo Park papers I used. I also used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to hold the fold down and to keep the heart in place. Too much fun!!!

I snuck the heart behind the twine. I originally planned to put it on top or weave it between, but it just looked like it fit behind it instead.

My Process...

Hi!
Today I want to show you how I layout a new project!
I knew I wanted to make a Valentine's Day card using Large Polka Dots and I just love Echo Park's newest papers for Valentine's Day. I used their Love Me papers for this card. They are just too fun!!

Before I start, if I know what I'm using, I usually try to gather it all together so it's all handy. I have to say, though, lots of times I just kinda change things on the fly, so I don't even end up using what I've gathered!!!

Stamping Large Polka Dots on the cardstock I cut:

ANYTIME I stamp, I clean it off right away! I am a little psychotic about it, but I want to make sure all of my stamps last for as long as possible! I use either stamp cleaner or baby wipes. I generally save the cleaner for strong, permanent inks, like Staz On.

Then, I stamp on a scratch piece of paper to make sure the stamp is all clean and ready to be put away. I also check to make sure it's dry before I package it back up.

Here, I've cut the squares I want to use and I'd deciding how to stamp the hearts.

I thought the red on Kraft would really pop. I ALWAYS 'test' stamp first on stock if I'm not sure it will come out the way I want. Sometimes the stock is too dark or the ink is too light.

And when two-step stamping, I do a test or two first, just to make sure I have everything lined up correctly! These adorable hearts are from Artsy Heartsy!

I cut out the hearts....

And decided where to place the strip of cardstock I cut:

When I attach twine, I usually hold it in place (at least temporarily) with some tape. This makes it easier for me to tie the twine or staple it in place.

Here is the finished card - fun, huh?

Today I have a really cute card for you. I decided to use Sharon's RM00126 New House Card and turn it into a Valentine's Day card!

This was such a fun file to use! I thought this was a great Valentine's Day card. I also used a scalloped die I had and ran it through my Cuttlebug to create the shingles.

The LOVE stamp is from SP & Company's I Love Love. I think the birdie is the perfect touch (Papertrey Ink set)!

Today I have three different projects for you, all using the newest stamp set, Large Polka Dots. For my first card, I stamped the dots on vellum and heat embossed them. So fun! I just love this look!!!

I stamped Lovely Labels on Echo Parks's Love Me Papers (I am seriously in love with these papers. I can't stop using them). I also heat embossed the sentiment from Artsy Heartsy on a banner I die cut.

Oh, and that beautiful flourish at the top and bottom? From Stitchery Doo!!! To keep the vellum adhered to the card without it really showing, I adhered behind the label and then stitched it down so the edges didn't curl up. I love vellum, but it can be tricky hiding the adhesive!

Now, onto my next card using Large Polka Dots:

I heat embossed again, this time on plain white stock. I've been waiting for a Polka Dot Background Stamp like this for a long time, so I was giddy when I saw SP was releasing one! This is just so versatile! I've been using it on so many projects!

I die cut the window using Spellbinders dies and stamped the heart and heart outline from Artsy Heartsy under it. I adhered the embossed sheet with Stampin' Up Dimensionals after adding the fabric tape and Baker's Twine.

Now, for my last card. This one is super CAS, but I really love it! It's not often I allow myself to be THIS simple and I'm so glad that I did. I adore the results!

That Lippy stamp is just too great and the Large Polka Dots make this so graphic and clean! That sentiment is also from Artsy Heartsy.

Lawnscaping Challenge #25

Hi there! Today I have a card that I created for the newest Lawnscaping Challenge.

I couldn't wait to get started on this one! I used the stamps that are supposed to be evergreens and turned them into frosted mountain tops.

After I colored everything in with Copics, I added some Glossy accents and then sprinkled some Perfect Pearls and white embossing powder on top. I dried it with a heat gun.

The balloons were cut out and adhered onto the card with some pop dots for that little extra dimension.

Pretty Thank You Card

Hi!
I hope your New Year is going well so far!!! Today I have an awesome thank you card to share. I decided to get funky and I stamped Circletastic onto some plain ribbon to create my own custom ribbon. I also got a little wacky and mixed and matched patterns, which I am normally too scared to do. New year, new me, right?!

I added the "Thank You for everything" sentiment from Bold Sentiments I and a button with some My Mind's Eye twine to finish the card off.

I just love the look of the houndstooth paired with the flowers.

A Gifty Tray

Hi!
I have a really fun project for you today! I am already starting my Valentine's gifts (I know, I'm shocked, too) and I wanted to make my mom something special that she keep updating as my kids get older. Enter the 7Gypsies tray paired with SP & Company stamps and some papers from the SP Store.

I chose a small, simple tray - it has 4 sections - 1 large and 3 small.

I decided to use magnetic tape in the tray, so everything I give her can always be added or removed.

Even though you might not be able to find the exact same tape, I know similar ones are sold both online and in stores.

I added magnets to each section and then picked out some pictures and added magnets to the back of all of them. I also wrote down the sizes so I would have them in the future so I can keep giving different pictures and embellishments to my mom so she can keep this updated.

I didn't just want boring old pictures. I wanted some interchangeable items, too. I figured a picture from my son's first year of Middle School would work perfectly with the Vintage Varsity set and some corkboard.

First, I stamped Circletastic in white on the corkboard and then I stamped 2011 using Memento Black Ink. These stamps worked wonderfully on the cork.

Then I used some paper from My Mind's Eye (Away We Go) and created a mini scrapbook page to fit into the large section.

I placed the picture and a tag with his name on there and ran it through the sewing machine.

After I sew on paper, I hold the ends in place with plain old scotch tape. This lays flatter than tying a knot and it's easy to hide - just adhere more paper on the back to cover it up!

I added a few buttons as embellishments and here is what they all look like together:

I also created a few other versions so the tray can be switched around as much as she wants. Here is a version I did that is zoo-themed. I put a few layers of decorative Scotch tape on Kraft and die cut them out.

Then, I ran them through the sewing machine and adhered them onto some patterned paper that I had stamped Circletastic on in black ink.

I also made a Love-Themed tray using some SP & Company stamps (I Love Love). These are just too fun. I cut out a mini envelope using my Silhouette. I placed that little guy on the Echo Park Yours Truly Hugs & Kisses stock. This is part of this month's SP & Company Club Kit, but it can also be purchased in single sheets, too. I will enable and say that with Valentine's Day right around the corner, you NEED this stock. :-)

I also cut out some letters and inked them up using a sponge. I used white ink first and then red. It just makes it a little more interesting to look at.

And to hold all of the pictures and embellishments, I cut out two envelopes and used the dry-brush technique on them to give them some pop!

Dry-brushing is easy and sounds like exactly what it is - using paint without water. I simply use some acrylic paint and dip the brush in it. I swipe it on a scratch piece of paper a few times to get rid of the excess paint and then I paint onto the project I'm working on.

For this particular envelope, I used some spray mist first and then dry-brushed in white. I also dry brushed on the stickers I placed on there (it says PICTURES) to make it all work well together. The frame is from Lovely Labels and was just perfect for this piece.

When that was done, I flipped it over and punched two holes, one on the flap and one on the envelope and put brads in the holes.

Then, I simply wrapped twine around the brads so there is a way to keep the envelope shut. We don't want the contents falling out!!!

Hi and Happy New Year's!
I know Valentine's Day might seem far away, but it's really not! Today I have a cute little box I made that was really simple. It's perfect for little Hershey kisses or even a little love note. :-) I used Sharon's RM00119 Calla Lily Flower file to decorate the box (the box was a freebie I found online a few weeks back). And yes, I know Calla Lillies are white, but I didn't necessarily want these to look just like normal Calla Lillies (where's the fun in that?!). So, I pulled out my Copics and made them pink. I added some glue and glitter to the edges. Perfect for Valentine's Day!

I added some American Crafts ribbon to the top, too, just for that extra zing. I think this is a sweet and fun box, very easy to mass produce for Valentine's Day. Those flowers are just the perfect finishing touch!!!

Hi!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas (and Boxing Day too, to my Canadian pals)! I have a few samples of the tags I used this year. Even though these are Christmas-themed, they can EASILY be changed to birthday, Valentine's Day (not too far off, huh?!) or really any other holiday. They are that simple.

The background is Circletastic. I used a PTI die for the tags it was very easy to create. I scored it first and then folded it so it cut through 2x. I just left the fold out of the die so that part of the tag didn't get cut off.

I used the snowflakes from Christmas Medley for my gift tags. For my baked goodies, I used a PTI set I've had for a while.

That little ceramic dishes came from Michael's - they were $.50 each! SCORE! I simply wrapped some bakers twine around the dish, to hold everything together and it was done. I filled it with homemade chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, chocolate-peanut butter squares and homemade salted caramel (this one is to die for). For my two bosses, I also ended up sticking a gift card into the back.

I'm also happy to say that I finally got an SLR camera for Christmas this year! YAY - no more plain old point and shoot!!! I'm really excited and I'm trying to get the hang of it all (the last time I was able to play around with aperture and f-stops was my Senior Year in High School and I won't say how long ago that was!). I just wanted to share a few shots I've taken.

Merry Christmas!

Hi!
Due to the Christmas Holiday, this will most likely be my only post for the week. I just wanted to share a fun ornament I made using an SP & Company stamp. I'll be back next week with at least one more project (hopefully two!).

I made some dough ornaments using a recipe I found HERE. They were really simple. Before I baked them, I pressed some stamps into them to create a fun image. After they were baked and cooled, I colored in the super cute penguin from the Christmas Medley set using Copics. I will be sad when the holidays are over - I've really enjoyed using this set!!!

My daughter also did her fair share of coloring in ornaments, too. She's two, so we used some Crayola Washable Markers. Afterwards, I sealed them all (including mine) with some Ranger Glue/Coating that is also used for Decoupage. We both had fun and I love the fact that these stamps can be used for so many different projects!

How about those snowflakes in the background... I don't know what I'd do without this set, honestly. Out of all of the snowflakes I have, they are my FAVORITE. Period.

Wow. I can't believe Christmas is almost here and that 2011 is almost over. I so love making Christmas cards and I'll be sad when I can't make them anymore!!! But... I do love Spring cards, too, hee hee.

This card features the new Circletastic. Too fun. I stamped some snowflakes in the upper right and added some glue and glitter. I have to say it looks awesome in person. Sorry excuse I know, but honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. All of the details kinda disappear. Oh, Santa, PLEASE BRING ME A NEW CAMERA FOR CHRISTMAS!!!! ;-)

Now, onto the projects using Circletastic (See? I told you it was an awesome stamp!):

OK, my first project is a fun one. I've been dying to make some ornaments and I knew this background stamp would be perfect for them. Instead of using ink, I got gutsy and I used white acrylic paint! I stamped the image directly onto some clear acetate to create that floating look in the background there. I cut out the clear shape using a freebie image I found HERE.

I simply stamped, colored (Copics) and cut out the Snowman head (Christmas Medley set) and adhered to the painted acetate. Then, I rolled it up and stuck it inside the ornament. I flattened it all out using tweezers. I'm lovin' his green hat! I dumped some glitter in the bottom so when I shake it, it sticks to the sides and looks like snow.

I made a second one using the Santa image (Yes, I LOVE this set). I know this one isn't green, but I made it for my 2 year old. She would probably freak if Santa wasn't wearing red. :-) I still wanted to share it with you, just so you can see another example. I mean, this can be done with virtually any stamped image, photographs, anything you can think of that you can adhere to acetate and roll up to fit in there. And I really think that background makes the ornament. It looked so BLAH without it. Can we say versatile stamp?!

I couldn't stop myself - I also made a really sweet vintage tag using Circletastic.

I die cut the tag, stamped it with VersaMark, threw some twine and ribbon on it with the chipboard accent and... Voila!!!!! Super simple, beautiful vintage tag! So easy for mass production!!!

Runway Inspired Challenge #1

I decided to participate in the very first Runway Inspired Challenge, created by the amazing Jen Rzasa. Her creations always inspire me and I am honored to be on the SP & Company DT with her!!!! I do love fashion and trends, but I rarely dress trendy. As much as I would love to, I work in a print shop and dressing nice just doesn't mix with the chemicals and materials that float around there! But that doesn't mean I can't drool over some of the newest trends and fashions out there. :-)

This is the image that inspired the challenge:

So beautiful!!!! I was inspired by the yellow (of course), but also the grayish tones in the background. I adore gray and yellow together, so is what sparked my idea for this card.

I thought it would be fun to group some faux buttons I cut out (Papertrey Ink stamps and dies) and just have a little yellow in there for an extra pop. The yellow represents all of the bling on her dress. And how could I not use the 'Glam' sentiment from SP & Company's Sewing Chic set for this????!!!! I feel like this is a little simple and chic at the same time!

I added some stitching on the top with my sewing machine for the finishing touch. I was going to use twine or ribbon, but I felt like since this was a fashion-inspired challenge, I should stick with my sewing machine and buttons. :-)

Get Inspired in the Kitchen Challenge... Moxie Fab!

Today I have a card that I created for a Moxie Fab Challenge. I just couldn't resist this picture:

I saw those glasses and thought immediately of a stamp set that I've been dying to use - Mehndi Medallions by Papertrey Ink. If that set isn't Moxie Fab, I don't know what is!!! And the glass inspired me to have a window cut out on my card (ya' know - something that is see-thru, like glass), so I did just that! I cut out a line of the cardstock and placed green stock behind it that I stamped.

I completed the card with a simple sentiment from SP & Company's Bold Sentiments I (my go-to sentiment set). I kept this one generic - it can be for birthday, congratulations, good luck, etc. I like to keep my options open when I make cards if I don't have anyone specific in mind when I'm creating it.

There is still time to enter this challenge, so pop on over to the Moxie Fab Blog and check it out. Since I've been creating holiday stuff non-stop, it felt really good to sit down and make something non-holiday-ish (I don't know if that's really a word!!!). I needed this challenge!!!! :-)

Sneak-y Peek-y

I have a little sneak peek of the newest set coming out this month from SP & Company! It's called Circletastic Background and it will be available on Saturday, December 10th in the SP & Company store. This is a stamp you HAVE to have. I love creating my own papers and backgrounds with stamps and this is one of those stamps that really helps to make the perfect background.

A little rustic, a little silly at the same time.

I've been restraining myself from using googlie eyes on the Christmas Medley set and I just couldn't hold back any longer. I love how he's peeking out from the little window on the front of the card. The sweet "Joy" sentiment is from the Cutest Gingerbread Man set.

I know, I know. I am WAY behind.

No excuses (even though I can think of a ton right now if you want to hear them). I'm really going to get the rest of it done before the actual days catch up and pass me! And I really need to get some ink for my photo printer so I can print out the wonderful pictures I've taken so far, too, and work on Days 1-5!!!

Gift Card Holder

Hi!
I hope you are having a good weekend so far. Since the shopping season is upon us, I decided to create a fun gift card box using two of Sharon's Designs (RM00114 Miniature Chocolate Box and RM00028 Snowflakes Title) that worked perfectly together.

I increased the size of the Mini Chocolate box to fit a standard gift card (they are generally 3.5 x 2) and I removed the window Sharon created and replaced it with one of her beautiful snowflakes. Then, I cut a few more snowflakes to add to the top of the box.

I stamped other snowflakes onto the box using SP & Company's Christmas Medley set. I stamped them first with some PTI Tea Dye Duo ink and then topped it off with Fresh Snow. I like the effect it gave.

For the snowflakes, I ran them through my Xyron and then covered them with glitter. I also placed some vellum behind the snowflake "window" and added a little bling to it. That cute "Be Merry" sentiment is from The Cutest Gingerbread Man stamp set.

So many people on my Holiday Shopping list requested gift cards, so I think this makes it just a little more personal instead of just throwing the card into a bag or an envelope. It was so easy and inexpensive to do, too!!!

Wednesday, Wednesday, we are halfway there! This week is DRAGGING for me after having most of last week off!!!!!!!

Today I have a CAS (Clean and Simple) card that is super easy to mass produce for Christmas cards! I used Christmas Medley and Cutest Gingerbread Man for this one.

Ifyou don't have a sewing machine, you can use Stitchery Doo (love this set) or even just draw some stitching on yourself. If you do have (and use) a sewing machine, I have a little tip for you: I score a line on the place that I am going to sew first. I just can't stitch in a straight line without a little guidance. It really does help me!

I just love the way white ink looks on Kraft, don't you??? :-)

Usually by now, I have my entire December Daily foundation pages all done. But this year, I only have 5 pages so far. It's my goal to get a page or two done a day and I will share them all with you. So bear with me - it will get done. :-)

I bought a cute Bo Bunny 6x6 album to use along with some Kerri Bradford digital designs and SP & Company stamps (Christmas Medley). I also have some Recollections and Authentique papers.

Each day has a transparent layer over it with a design (stamped in Staz On) and a date.

Wow! How can tomorrow be Thanksgiving already?! Time flies. Anyway, I have another super fun holiday card using the Cutest Gingerbread Stamp Set. I simply refer to him as "Gingie." I love all of the different faces this guy comes with. I am going to make one where he's missing a leg with an angry face one of these days, a la Shrek.

I thought it would be fun to make him look like an actual cookie, so I stamped him on Kraft and then colored him in with white Prismacolor pencils. I used Copics around the edges to give some shadows and to make it look more like he was a cookie!

I tucked him behind a little tag and stamped some snowflakes in the background from the Christmas Medley Set. This set has become a staple in my holiday stamp collection, for sure. I think the googlie eyes give him a fun touch!!!

DT Wednesday Time

Hi!
Can you believe Thanksgiving is a week from tomorrow! EEK!!!! This year is flying by! Since the holidays are upon us, I have a holiday card. I work in a full-service bindery/print shop and whenever we coil books, there are always pieces that are clipped off and thrown away. Enter me, the one who looks at every piece of everything and wonders if its usable for a card or layout. No judging - you know you're like that too. ;-)

So, this is one of the millions of coil pieces that I rescued from getting recycled:

I simply used a pair of wire cutters and trimmed it to about half of its size. I've actually seen springs that are similar to this sold at Archiver's, so if you like this idea, you can use those instead of a plastic coil.

Above is the side view of my card. I used hot glue to adhere my focal point to the card with the coil.

For the background, I inked up a Provo embossing plate and ran it though the Cuttlebug. This places the ink inside the impression, kind of like a letterpress.

The little Santa bounces around because he's attached with a coil instead of just a regular pop dot or adhesive. So fun! The Santa and snowflakes are from Christmas Medley Set and the sentiment is from the Cutest Gingerbread Man Set.

Hi there!
Today I have a rustic-inspired card and matching tag. As soon as I saw the Wedding Ring Quilt Mesh File (RM00118), I knew it would be the perfect background for a card using Kraft stock.

I dry brushed some white acrylic paint onto the base and the die cut and then adhered them together. I stamped cute little snowflakes (SP & Company's Christmas Medley Set) on the 'open' areas in white ink. But after I had the sentiment (SP & Company's Cutest Gingerbread Man Set) and banner all cut out and ready to go, it felt like something was missing. I knew it needed a poinsettia and I also happened to know that there is an amazing 3D Poinsettia Set in Sharon's store (RM00107). So, I cut the poinsettia out on the Silhouette, using vellum. I used some Copics to give the centers some color and then I dipped the edges of the flower in red glitter.

For the tag, I did the same steps and techniques as the card, I just did some of the things on a smaller scale.

The banner is the same as the one above, but I actually folded the middle over so it would be the size I needed. :-) I added some button twine for the finishing touch and voila! DONE!

I created a card for the My Time Made Easy Pretty Patterns Sketch Challenge #34. Um, I won the Grand Prize last month, so how could I NOT keep participating? EEEEEEEEEEEE!

I whipped out the Silhouette for this puppy! I used an image of an acorn that is just too cute (and it was FREE!). I also cut a window out of some Kraft stock and place some Basic Grey patterned paper and vellum behind it. For that acorn, I inked it up and stamped some SU leaf images on the heart and then covered it in Glossy Accents. Too fun!

I am smitten with the Vintage Varsity set that is now available. I just couldn't resist - I FINALLY made a mini album of my son's illustrious baseball career that started in Kindergarten. He's in Middle School now and he made the full time travel team, so he won't be playing Park District ball anymore. This album goes through his Park District years.

This whole album was created with papers and chipboard that I bought online at Scrap and Paper Corner. There was no manufacturer listed on the box, so I don't know who made the plain album or the patterned papers.

For the front cover, I stamped Vintage Varsity in white ink and cut a sentiment out with my Cricut.

Then, I added some mini staples iwth the Tim Holtz tiny attacher and an EK Success baseball embellishment.

For each year that corresponds with his picture, I used Vintage Varsity to show what year it was. What a little munchkin he was back then!!!!

I added some fun journaling and embellishments I've been hoarding for a while. I changed up the placement of the dates on each page/spread to make it more interesting.

I stamped the date on the above image on a transparency in Staz-On ink. Then I added some stars. It's actually really stunning when you see it in person! The stamp set stamps well with any ink I use!!!!

For the last page, I turned his picture into a packaged hangtag. I sealed it up inside a plastic goodie bag so it looks like it should be hanging on a rack at a store! My son got a kick out of this one!!!

Sneaky Peek-y

Hi!
Today I have a sneak peek for you! You are going to squeal with excitement when you see this new set! It's called Vintage Varsity. I was soooo excited when I got this set in the mail. My son plays baseball and basketball, so this one was screaming my name.

Warning!!!! Picture heavy post!!!!! :-)

My son just turned 12, so I made him a card using this set. Unlike most 12 year old boys, he does seem to appreciate my efforts when it comes to cardmaking and scrapbooking. He will even sit with me while I scrap and draw or chit chat with me. It's bonding time I really enjoy (unlike all of the other times he's acting like he's 12-going-on-a-15-year-old-attitudey-boy).

I punched a window and covered it with vellum. Then, I stamped the number 12 so it would show through.

I ripped some paper, distressed it, inked the edges, etc. Once I adhered them, I pulled up the edges a little bit. Then I added some button twine and a cute little baseball in the upper corner.

I inked up a few SU stamps for the dots and stripes and then I dry brushed some white paint along the top of the card and on the inside.

I seriously adore those numbers. ADORE.

Today is the SP & Company DT Group post day. Pop on over to the Scrapmaster's Blog to get the rundown of all of the DT Member's posts!!!

I have a pretty card today. I really wanted to make some flowers using a file I downloaded from the Silhouette store. So.... I used a sketch from My Time Made Easy and got to work!

I used some beautiful papers I bought from Authentique and I stamped a PTI rose as the main focal point. The sweet sentiment is from SP & Company's Bold Sentiments I. Then, I cut out three small roses, rolled them up, used hot glue to keep them together, dipped 'em in glue and added some glitter to the edges. I colored in the stamp with Copics and I used a white Prismacolor for highlights. I distressed all of the edges and added some faux stitching (Stitchery Doo).

This one is a little more shabby chic than what I normally do, but I really like the final outcome!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!

Tonight I have a fun card I created for the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge! I thought this sketch was too fun, so I couldn't pass it up!

I turned it on its side and changed it up a tad. I created this card for a friend of my mom. Her birthday is coming up soon and I wanted to do something fun, simple and cheery for her!

I used Lawn Fawn images (2 different sets, but they coordinate pretty well!) and a sentiment from SP & Company's Bold Sentiments I. I colored in the bike with Copics and paper pieced the ballooons.

Exciting News and a Halloween Project!!!

HI!!!!

I have some exciting news! I am on the Creative Team for Scrappin with Sharon and Smokey! Sharon creates fantastic digital files - you can check out here store HERE!

And.... I have a project to share with you today!!!! As soon as I found out I was on Sharon's CT (squeal!!!), I got started immediately with a Halloween project! I fell in love with her Luminary Designs instantly and had to get my hands on one!!! I was not disappointed when I ran this baby through my Silhouette. I. AM. IN. LOVE. with those little bats!!!!

To create it, I simply ran black cardstock through my Silhouette. Then, I used my Glue Pad and make sure the entire surface was sticky. I brushed orange Perfect Pearls all over it. It gives it a faux metallic look. I wanted it to look like it had been weathered, so I used a Q-Tip with white ink and brushed it over the web side. I did the same technique with black ink for the bats. Below, you can see more detail with a bright light shining on it (and click the image to enlarge it for more detail, too!):

After the base was complete, I cut and attached some vellum (we call it Glama in the print world) stock to the inside of the piece. Then I placed scor-tape around the top and bottom and doused it with a deep red glitter (glitter is like the bacon of the scrap world. To me, everything is better with glitter!). I glued a pom-pom to the little spider (oh, yes, he comes with this set - he's super cute!) and adhered him to the side of the web. After I glued the edges together to made it stand up, I folded the wings of all of the bats. Just a little touch to make it even more interesting to look at.

I am going to place this guy in my bay window in the front of my house for everyone to see it on Halloween! Honestly, even if you don't want to decorate it all fancy, just cutting it out and gluing the edges together with nothing else on it makes a really cool (and easy) Halloween decoration. If you are a procrastinator and aren't 100% ready for Halloween yet (GUILTY) , this is a quick and easy way to get eye-catching decorations up fast!

Hi and Happy Wednesday!
Today is group post day for the SP & Company Design Team! I decided to participate in the My Time Made Easy Pretty Patterns Sketch Challenge # 32 this week. Some days I want to use a sketch to make a project and some days I just "Glue 'N Go" (that's a term my BFF uses all the time for herself!)!!!

I decided to break out the corrugated stock and the paints for this one. I dry brushed some of the corrugated stock and then while it dried, I colored in the flower image with Copics and Prismacolors (I HATE waiting for stuff to dry!!!).

I also decided to splatter some Tattered Angels glimmer mist in the background (red and blue). I love using these, but I do use them sparingly. Up at the top left, I used the Tim Holtz tiny attacher and created little "x's" with it.

I love the way the corrugated looks with two different types of paints on it. I used regular brown acrylic and some blue Ranger crackle paint.

The sentiment is from SP & Company's Bold Sentiments I set. I used a dauber to add some ink onto the stock.

Hi!
Today I'm participating in the SPCC!

I really love the blue and the green together. It's not a combo I use often, but I should!

I inked up the flowers with a lighter blue, then added the darker blue before stamping to give it some definition. I wanted it to look like a watercolor painting and I think it worked!!!

I added in a sentiment from SP & Company's Bold Sentiments I. This is a set I use soooo much! There are so many sentiments to choose from - I use them on almost all of my cards.

Halfway through the week.... :-)

Today I made a cutesy little thank you card. I really like the Sewing Chic set and I thought this would be a perfect card for a former teacher of mine that sews. Now, let's hope she doesn't read this before I have an opportunity to send her the card!!!

I stamped the image and sentiment on Kraft and used Prismacolor pencils to color it in (loooovvveee this look!). Then, I sewed the bottom edge and threw some matching buttons on there. The finishing touch was the twine at the top.

MTME Pretty Patterns Sketch #31

Hi!
Today I have a fun card to share with you! I participated in the My Time Made Easy Pretty Patterns Sketch again this week. I downloaded some more free digi papers from My Time Made Easy and paired it up with a cute Hero Arts stamp that I haven't inked up in a while.

This card is perfect for my husband. He is a master chef. I always tease him that he is my very own Bobby Flay. So, I made this with him in mind.

I used Kraft for the base and layered the MTME paper along with some Basic Grey stocks. I did some wild sewing on the edge - I just decided to go back and forth a few times, not really trying to keep anything straight and I like the messy look it created. I usually try to make perfectly straight lines when I sew, so this was kinda cool to just do whatever.

I stamped the image onto Kraft and colored it in with Prismacolor pencils. Then I used a Copic marker to trace around the image and make it pop a little bit. I've been doing this quite a bit recently - I just really like the way some of the colors look on the Kraft.

For the background, I cut out 9 squares, inked the edges and placed them on some stock. I added some buttons with twine to the corner and the card was done!!!!

SPCC Color Combo #122

Happy Monday,

Today I'm participating in the SPCC color combo challenge. I loved the colors so much, I just couldn't resist. I fired up my Silhoutte, broke out a new holiday SP & Company stamp set (Christmas Medley) and got to work!!!

I thought the snowman was too cute not to use! I used Prismacolor colored pencils and Gamsol to color in the snowman. Then, I used a glue pen and added some red flock to his scarf and the red band on his hat.

I added a sentiment and the little sprig of holly and berries and tied some twine around the top. Voila!

Halloween Gift Box Challenge

Hi there!
I've been working non-stop on my Silhouette these last few days. I just can't get enough of it!!! I love, love, love it and I also love Lori Whitlock's designs that are available for my Silhouette. Imagine my excitement when I saw that she and Tamara from Happy Life, Crafty Wife were having a Halloween contest! I was able to download two FREE boxes and play with them! EEEEE!

Here is what I came up with. Warning! There are a lot of pictures!!!

I started off by making a pumpkin out of paper strips. I also die cut a ton of leaves using a design I created myself (CLICK HERE OR HERE TO DOWNLOAD THIS FREEBIE)!!!!

I also die cut some spiders from my Cricut. I have to say it was awesome to have the Silhouette and the Cricut cutting at the same time - it was music to my ears (I am such a nerd!!)!

Then, I used my glue pad and Perfect Pearls to make the whole box shimmery. I cut out the box-top spider web on a different stock (purple) and adhered it over the regular box top. Once the glue was dry and the Pearls were adhered, I went over everything with brown ink. This gave a really cool, distressed look. I love the way it came out!!!

My second project is much, much simpler! I wanted to go with funny and silly instead of distressed and 'serious.'

I cut a few ghosts (from the box top) out of acetate and then I rubbed some white ink onto the back with a Q-tip and my finger. Once it dried, I added the googly eyes!!!

I made three different sizes of the ghost box so I could stack them like so:

I had so much fun making these. Package design / 3D projects have always been my thing!!!

My Time Made Easy Pretty Patterns Sketch Challenge #30

Hi,
I hope you are having a good week so far! I was able to participate in this week's sketch challenge for My Time Made Easy! YAY! I love sketch challenges - they give me such a good starting point for my projects. Sometimes I follow them to a "T" and other times, well, I kinda go off and do my own thing, but the inspiration is there! :-) Today's project is exactly like the sketch, but I turned it on its side.

I decided to not just stamp on canvas for this challenge, I colored on canvas using some Copic markers! EEEE! They bled a little bit, but not as bad as I expected and I like the result!

The card's base is some Core'dinations stock that I sanded down and then painted with white acrylic paint - I just dry brushed some on to give it a little something extra! That beautiful patterned flower paper (my inspiration for this project) was a freebie from My Time Made Easy. Nice, huh??!!!

I also added a little stitching on the left and I stamped the same flower onto the Kraft stock and added a little of the blue onto the center of each flower with a Q-tip. Oh, and I'd also like to say how therapeutic it was to fray that canvas sheet... I die cut it in my Cuttlebug and it didn't fray at all, so I loved pulling the edges and making it fray myself... Then I inked it up. Then I frayed it again. :-) It was kinda like bubble wrap - once I started, I didn't want to stop...

Awareness is Empowering

Hi all!
Today I have a pretty pink card that showcases the SP and Company Awareness is Empowering set. A major portion of the proceeds from this stamp set will be donated to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which is dedicated to Cancer research and support. The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is rated four stars by Charity Navigator.

Now, onto my card!

I used some chunky glitter I've been holding onto for a while for the ribbon. I stamped the ribbon in pink and then used a darker pink for the outline stamp. I ran the ribbon through my Xyron and sprinkled the chucky glitter on it.

For the background, I stamped three different sentiments across the sheet, adhered it to the base, and then place some pink vellum over it to soften it up. Then, I stamped the same wording on top of the vellum. I like the layered look this gives the card.

Spoooooooky Hop - Group Post Day!

Welcome to the SP and Company Design Team October Blog Hop! I'm so glad you are here!!!!

I have two projects to share with you today. Both projects were created using Awareness is Empowering. Yes, this stamp set is dedicated to Breast Cancer awareness, but you can use it for other projects too (as I will show you today!). And don't forget that this set also has a coordinating CUT file available so you don't have to cut the ribbons out by hand. Now, onto the projects!

My first project is a card to promote awareness of at-risk animals. Did you know that the orange ribbon is registered in the United States as a patent for The Animal Guardian Ribbon? Ah, this is so close to my heart. I am a huge animal lover and a big advocate of animal adoption.

I die cut the purple out of some Recollections purple stock and then I stamped the mini ribbons on it. I added the Baker's twine to make it a little more eye-catching. I added the "Courage" sentiment because it takes a lot of courage to adopt some animals. Most of them are fine, but some have a lot of mental and physical issues that will take a lot of time and effort to get past.

My next project is a Halloween one! YAY! I LOVE Halloween!

I used a $1 notebook I bought at JoAnn's and re-purposed it.

I thought the "Be Fearless" sentiment worked well with the little vampire guy. I found him in the $1 bin at Michael's. I colored him in with colored pencils and I gathered the ribbon on the bottom.

I used the same sentiment again and made a matching tag. I know a certain person (my BFF) that also loves Halloween and I bet she'd like this notebook as a gift!!!!

Welcome to Day 2 of the SP and Company October Hop!

I used some orange stock I had and brushed a little bit of pink paint onto the background. I also added glitter to the ribbon using my Xyron (easy-peasy!).

I love the look of pink and orange together, so this one was a no-brainer for me!

For my second project, I created a gift card holder with my Silhouette and Awareness is Empowering.

I figured the "Pamper Yourself" sentiment was the perfect saying for a gift card! So, I cut a pocket and a pull out card.

The gift card sits on the little card that has the gem on it. It pulls out for access to the gift card.

A Mini Box and Matching Card

Happy Friday!
I've been playing around on my Silhouette the last few days. I've also really immersed myself in the world of digi-ness! I'm a designer by trade, so I work on digital images/art all day long. You would think I'd be tired of it by the time I come home, but I still really like using digi papers, images cutting out digital files. I've always been a sucker for package design, so when I found this template for the 3 drawer boxes in the Silhouette store, I had to have it.

I decided to play along with the My Time Made Easy Pretty Pattern Sketch Challenge (#29) this week. It's been a while since I've played along with a MTME challenge. I've always really liked their digital line and now I'm even more interested in it since I've become a digi-freak! :-)

Here is the sketch:

The first thing I thought of when I saw this was that box I've been waiting to cut. See the 3 boxes on the sketch??? That just screamed 3 drawer box to me! I also wanted to make a matching card, so I turned the sketch onto its side for my card.

Each of the drawers have a little sleeve to cover them (and to make a shelf). I used a PTI background stamp, plus a SU flower stamp. I colored them in using Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I inked the edges and used a dauber to add some brown ink in the background to give it a worn look. Then, I used my glue pad and just randomly placed it over the sheet randomly. After that, I brushed some Perfect Pearls to make it shimmery!

The outside of the box was created with a freebie digital stock from My Time Made Easy. For the flower piece on top, I die cut a flower, inked the edges and then stamped a SU confetti (leaves) stamp for the background. I smeared the ink before it dried to tone it down. I simply curled up the edges and pieced it together with some dimensionals.

I wanted the card to have the same distressed feel as the boxes did. So, I stamped background text in white and then the same flowers in brown. I also distressed the edges of some of the papers. I used the same technique with the background of the main flower that I did for the die cut flower on the box - I stamped and then blended with my fingers. I wanted something in the background, but nothing something so crisp that it would take away from my main element on the card - the flower!

To create the flower, I stamped the image on Kraft and then used my colored pencils to color in the image. I love the look of white colored pencils on Kraft! To finish off the card, I added the 'love' sentiment (PTI) and some button twine with a cute little flower button (DeNami Design).

SP and Company DT Wednesday!

Welcome to another SP and Company Design Team Wednesday! Today I have a card I made using my new Silhouette SD and the exclusive SP and Company CUT files that coordinate with SP stamps! I used the CUT file for the Dress Form that goes with the Sewing Chic set. I am in LOVE!!!!!!! This makes my life soooo easy - I don't have to cut anything out by hand anymore! YAY!

I simply opened the file on my computer, sent to my Silhouette and then stamped the image after it was cut. Completely painless!!!!

I also tried a new technique - I stamped on a button!!! I think it makes the whole project a little more interesting - something fun to look at. And I like stamping on anything I can get my hands on. :-)

Some Zoo Fun!

Hi and Happy Wednesday!
I am so grateful to live so close to one of the top-rated zoos in the country. And I fully take advantage of it, too! We've made many, many trips to the zoo, even more now that our daughter is finally old enough to recognize the animals. I finally got around to scrapbooking our last trip there. I made an album and gave it to my mom. She loved it and I loved making it, so it was a win-win!

I used a Bo Bunny album that I bought the first time I spied it. I couldn't live without it (I actually bought one for me, too, so I have another one to work on soon!).

The pages are different animal shapes, which is what caught my eye in the first place. If you want a better look, just click on the pictures to enlarge them.

I have a little hidden journaling on the inside cover that I created easily with a brad. I colored in the money with Copics.

I used Photoshop CS4 to edit my pictures. I used a really cool brush I found online to frame some of the pictures and make them look like filmstrips. The giraffe was cut out with my Cricut and the journal tag is from the Smashbook line series.

I used two sentiments from Sewing Chic for this page. It just seemed to fit since my daughter looks like she's trying to "Go Hollywood" in these pictures.

The monkey was cut with my Cricut. I just had to add in those googly eyes!!!

For the upper corner, I used a stamp from Stitchery Doo. I love the look of the white ink on photos and that corner stamp is just perfect!

Happy Sunday!
Today I have a shaped card to share. It's not a fancy shape - just a circle, but I don't often create circle cards and I do {heart} them quite a bit!

I used Perfect Pearls to make everything pretty and shimmery!!! I'm lovin' the frame - I stamped it with SP and Company's Dainty Flourish background. The frame was so blah and plain before I added that stamp. Now, it looks like a completely different product.

I also used elements from the Sewing Chic set. I can't get enough of this one. I stamped the dress form and the sentiment on the tag in white ink and then I sprinkled the Pearls over them with a paintbrush. This gives the images an iridescent effect.

And in case you're wondering how to create a circular card, it's really easy! Just cut two circles. On the circle that is going to be the inside, score it at the top (I generally make the score about an inch and a half from the top) and attach it with STRONG adhesive. Make sure it's the strongest you have - otherwise the card will pull apart.

SP and Company Group Post Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday!
We're halfway there and I have a little set of mini cards to share with you today! I decided to enter the CAS-ual Friday challenge this week. I really love all things mini - mini cards, mini albums, mini food erasers (OK, my son loves those, but close enough!!!). I knew I wanted to use SP and Company sentiments for all of my cards and I wanted to keep them all somewhat similar. They are all 3 x 3.

I paper pieced the focal image on each card and used dimensionals to adhere them. Then I tied some Baker's twine to each card. I used Copics for shading and a white pen for highlights. It's the most noticeable on the plane since the stock I stamped on was a little darker than the cotton candy and pinwheel.

I'm sure you've noticed by now - I've been using the SP and Company Bold Sentiments I on just about everything. I can't help it!!! I love that set! There is a sentiment for EVERYTHING and it's awesome!!!! The images came from a few different Lawn Fawn sets I picked up at Archiver's.

Shimmer Time!!!!

I have a new obsession.... Perfect Pearls - have you used them? I'm putting them on EVERYTHING now!!!! They are so shimmery and pretty! Here is a card I made with them using a Stamper's Best stamp and a SP and Company Sentiment (Bold Sentiments I) with the goregous SP background stamp (Dainty Flourish).

In the picture below, you can see the shimmer a little more (click on the picture if you want to see it larger):

I added it to the flowers and I used a glue pad for the background and dusted the Perfect Pearls over the sticky areas. I'm thinking these might be in my future for this year's Christmas cards. They just make everything so striking!!!

Today I have a cute card that I am also entering in the Young Crafters Unite challenge! This is their first challenge and I thought it would be fun to participate. I decided I wanted to follow some 'rules' this week for my post. :-) I also went with a white cardstock background, which I rarely do. This is the second time I've done that this week!!!

The challenge was to color in a stamped image. No problem - this is one of my favorite things to do!

I stamped the image two times - once on the card, once on a separate piece of paper so I could paper piece the hearts. I used Copics on the elephants. For the hearts, I stamped some mini flowers in VersaMark and then colored them in with Copics. Once I adhered them to the card, I added some Glossy Accents to make them pop even more.

The sentiment is from SP and Company's Bold Sentiments I. This is an awesome set and it's back in stock (woo hoo!) at the SP and Company store. I also added a little embossed line at the bottom of the card.

You can see the flowers that I stamped in VersaMark in the above picture. I really like this technique.

I cut the front of the card shorter than the back so I could place some paper on the inside and have it show through. It matches the hearts pretty closely (see my reasoning for stamping those flowers in the hearts?!).

It's Clear To See....

I love acetate. I really, really do. I feel like I just don't use it as much as I should. As soon as I saw this Lawn Fawn sentiment, I knew exactly what it needed - acetate!

I punched a 1 3/4 inch circle, stamped those glasses on acetate and adhered it to the card. Then, I took the sentiment and bended it to make it fit around the circle (ah, this is why I love clear stamps!). Add the fun faux stitching from SP and Company's Stitchery Doo (*swoon*) to the front with some Baker's Twine and - voila! Done!

I am always looking for an excuse to cut a window on a card. I actually have stopped myself from doing it because once I get started, all of the cards I create for days all have acetate windows.

For the inside, I continued the stitches...

This one is going to my husband, for sure. I think he will get a kick out of it. He always complains I don't put enough INSIDE the card, so I specifically put the sentiment inside for his benefit. Our anniversary is coming up next month, so I'm all ready for it!

Today I have a fun Holiday card for you!!!! I couldn't resist using this penguin from the new Christmas Medley set - he is SO CUTE!!!! I am pretty darn sure he will be on all of my Christmas cards this year.

I know pink isn't traditionally a Christmas color, but I have some holiday stock from My Mind's Eye and they use pink, so I figured why not?! See that beautiful background the penguin is on? That is the new Dainty Flourish Background from SP, which is available today in the SP and Company store! I added some pink glitter to that snowflake I punched out and so flock to the little guy's hat, too! Oh, and his hat isn't red - it's magenta (I'm all pink on this one)!!!! :-) The sentiment on the die cut banner is from another super cute holiday SP set called Cutest Gingerbread Man.

I decided to stamp the penguin on some stock that has music notes on it. I think it gives him a little more texture and makes him more interesting to look at. I also added a line of scor-tape on the banner and covered that with glitter, too. LOTS of glitter on this card, which isn't normal for me!

Today I have a sweet card for you that features a new background stamp from SP called Dainty Flourish Background. It will be released on September 10 at the SP and Company store. This is really a verstaile stamp. Today I am showing it's 'dainty-ness,' but tomorrow I will show you how you can use it during the holidays, too!

The Dainty Flourish stamp lines up really easily to cover a large area. See where I used in on the side of the card? This card's front is cut smaller than the back so the flourish is technically on the inside of the card. I also used it on the vellum at the top. I love how soft and muted it looks on the pink vellum.

For the flowers, I heat embossed them and then used a q-tip to add white ink to the centers. Then I added some darker pink around the edges. I traced around each flower with a Copic to give them a little depth.

Finally, I used another sentiments from Bold Sentiments I and I stamped it in black so I would show up over the muted flourish on the vellum.

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday!

I haven't gotten to participate in this one in a while, so I was pretty darn excited to get inky and try this technique! The challenge was to create a background with stamps that aren't meant to be background stamps. Bring it!!!! :-) I just love making my own patterns with stamps, so this one was right up my alley. Not to mention, I had to make a card for my brother-in-law's birthday, so I had no choice but to give this one a go!

I thought the tickets would make a fun background. Kinda like bricks, but better!!!! I die cut the one ticket and stamped it in a different color to make it pop out a little more.

I also punched holes and strung some baker's twine on the edge to give the card a little extra zip. I kept the colors orange and blue since my brother-in-law is a huge Bears fan and their first game is this Sunday. I know the blue is little too teal, but I came as close as I could - he'll have to give me credit for trying!!!

Harry Potter Mini Album

Happy Friday!
I am so excited to be going on a Road Trip with the family this long weekend! I'll be sure to have my camera ready so I can scrap everything once I get back! YAY! Mini Road Trip = Mini Album Time!!!!

Today I have a fun mini album to share with you. I created the covers using chipboard that I painted and the guts are mini kraft treat bags that I glued down and turned into pockets.

I made little insert pages and used my Cricut (From the Kitchen cartridge) to create tabs.

I used a partial sentiment for SP and Company Bold Sentiments I. I've been a masking fool recently with sentiments!

I edited all of the pictures in Photoshop CS4. I converted some to black and white and I added some scratches and grunge to them.

When I was done, I bound everything with my Zutter and covered up the wire with some Harry Potter stock.

Today I made a fun summer card. The wonderful woman that watches my daughter bought her some really cute clothes for her birthday last week, so I wanted to make her a nice card to show my gratitude. SP and Company's Bold Sentiments I was perfect for this little guy!!!!

I paper pieced those pinwheels and used Copics to add some shadows to them. I used chalk to color in the clouds. When everything was all pieced together, I sprayed some Smooch Spritz over the entire card to give it a nice sheen. You can kinda sorta see it in the shot below:

I really hope she likes the card! I am so grateful for everything she does (my daughter adores her), so this was the least I could do!

Happy Wednesday!

We're halfway through the week already. I can't believe my baby girl is turning TWO this week. Where has time gone?! Since it seems like time flies, before we know it, Halloween will be here! I am being very pro-active this year - I already have my Halloween foundation pages done for my album! We haven't even decided on costumes yet and I'm done - this is a FIRST (and probably a LAST, too!). I figured I could share my empty album with you today. Once it's done, I'll post that, too, so you can see what changed and what was added. I just LOVE Halloween (the time of year, the colors, the same month as my birthday, the HARVEST MOONS...), so I'm always picking up more Halloween stamps and embellies, so I know I will find something else that will be added to these pages!

The album I found at Michael's (Recollections) two years ago right after I had my daughter. I was on maternity leave and I loved being home, taking her out places with me to kill time during the day. I was already brainwashing her into becoming a scrapper (I'm still working on that, BTW).

I thought it would be fun to add tabs to the pages, too. I love the look of tabs (which is odd since the print shop I work in deals with them on a daily basis, so you'd think I'd hate them by now?!).

I used a q-tip to add the 'mist' behind the monster!

The "You're a Star" sentiment is perfect for Halloween pictures. No matter what my kids end up dressing up as, they will pose for pictures and think they are celebrities, so it's a great sentiment to use for a book like this one. It's from the SP and Company Bold Sentiments I set. I pretty much use this set on a daily basis.

I also used the frame from Sewing Chic from SP and Company for this page. LOVE. There are so many uses for this that are non-sewing related. Heck, if used with the right colors, you could even make this work on a masculine card!

I used some green paint on black stock for this page. I like how it looks like it's glowing or even slime!!!!

I can't wait for Halloween to come so I can take pictures and fill this guy up!

SPCC Color Combo Challenge #114

This week's combo uses one of the brand new Stampin' UP Colors that came out last month. If you don't have this new color yet, just use something similar.

As always, here are the challenge details:
